Trip 6: Boys and Girls Club

In our second year with BGC Portland we took up a new group of participants and chaperones. We had fresh snow and clear skies until the very end of the day when the flakes started falling.

In a single trip we try really hard to facilitate a balance of technical instruction and fun – but snowboarding is a hard thing to learn in one day.

Loy yelling all the way down is something all of us will remember! Charley rallied back outside to cheer his friends on after hurting his wrist. A couple students weren’t feeling up to it and had more fun playing cards in the lodge.

Most students set their sights on the lift as a measure of success (even though the concept of is so abstract before we actually get on/off it). We got everyone who wanted to up, and left with a bus full of smiles and victory (and no broken bones, despite Alan’s desire to have left with one as a badge of snowboard honor!?!).

Thanks again to everyone who came out!
